This is a great looking example of Victorian, 19th century needlework. It is hand worked, wool needlework, with the motto, “Home Sweet Home”, done on perforated paper. The walnut frame with gilding measures 11″ by 24″, and the paper measures approximately 8″ by 21″. This type of antique needlework was done to inspire and to show one’s personal beliefs.
The wool is variegated in colors of gray, white, red, orange/rust, yellow and pink. The vines are green. The punched paper is tan. The frame appears to be original.
Condition is excellent! There is a slight darkening of the paper in places, which is very common. The frame has some nicks and there is some gilding lost. A fine example of Victorian needlework.
